D - bristol, tina & will farrell's home
i just wanted to take a moment to write about the wonderful people we've met so far on our journey. from the guy on the bus yesterday who helped us find our way to the families that have taken us in. it's interesting being on the other side of travelling. we come from a resort town and CONSTANTLY get the STUPIDEST people on the planet asking us the DUMBEST questions EVER!! they wander out into the street in front of us as we drive down the road, late for work. they drive SO SLOW!!!!! we have constantly said that people leave their brains at home when they go on holiday. now, we are the ones walking down the street with a 40 lb bag on our back, knocking over small children as we wander lost with a map open wide in front of us. yet, there are angels on their way to work, stuck behind our huge bags that take the time to help us on our way. we were in the tube, trying to find which direction we needed to go, and a man asked where we were headed, ended up helping us lug the suitcases through turnstiles and down the 3 flights of stairs. we were wary of his assistance, yet all he wanted to do was help. he made sure we got on the right train and everything. we got into bristol and waited in a honkin' line to ask the bus driver a question. an adorable guy motioned for j to go in front of him and when she said she'd wait 'til the end he asked where she was going -- he didn't know, but said with a wink that he would find out. so cute.
we've also had people take us in as family. from our aunt in philly to the aunt and uncle of a friend. we ended up on the isle of man with my best friend's mom and her sisters family. they fed us and let us do laundry and cook them dinner every night we were there, and took us sightseeing. AMAZING! eileen even made us some peanut butter cookies for the road. eileen and johnathan have seven kids ALL at home, ages 18 to 1 (we celebrated malachi's birthday while we were there). they also had eileen's sister and three strange american girls. it's like their house just adjusted a bit to fit us all in. sunday dinner included the missionaries, which brought the number up to 15. insane, i tell ya. but they were so wonderful. hugs and tears when we left. now, we are at becky's dad's sister's house. we found our way here about 6:30 last night. we interrupted the last 15 minutes of planet of the apes and will forever be known as the stench that came in. we had a very nice visit last night before we took over their front room. now, we are off to bath for the day. i am renting a car...so be prepared for adventure stories.

You write so beautifully and with such depth. You make my day each time I am able to login and find a new blog. 40# bags, oh WOW.
Question, did you skip Scotland or is it next? The bombing of the airport is of course what makes the question relevant since we have heard nothing on the news since it happened and don't know if visitors aren't allowed or what?
We are planning to travel for six weeks the end of August, hope we find the kindness, as strangers in another place, that you have found.
We love you all.
My friends are amazed when I do not seem to be concerned at all about you girls or your safety. I am so happy for you. I am not worried about you or your trip. Thank you for sharing it with us. I love you all. We are well and not new trauma. God bless you
